We want to take this opportunity to welcome all of our new members to the MOMS network! Together, we're going to make some noise! (and not just the crying babies!) We're establishing MOMSquads in several areas over the next few months and we're in need of MOMSquad leaders. If you're interested in volunteering your time, contact us at moms@safemilk.org.
So, what is a MOMSquad anyway?
A MOMSquad is a local MOMS group that works in a specific geographic area to help further MOMS local and nationwide campaigns.
OK, but what exactly does a MOMSquad do?
MOMSquads work on MOMS issues in their communities. For example, MOMSquads could work with community leaders to pass legislation limiting the use of pesticides in public spaces. Or help to pass Precautionary ordinances in their cities. Other activities include performing local inspections at various retail outlets to gather data for a MOMS corporate campaign, as well as sending letters to legislators, gathering signatures, participating in a MOMS demonstration, etc.
How do I start a MOMSquad in my area?
First, contact moms@safemilk.org to find out if a MOMSquad already exists. If not, we'll help you locate other MOMS members in your city or state who are interested in forming a MOMSquad. MOMS Central will provide all of the materials you need to start working on MOMS issue in your area. |
